Life: Everyone’s life is important and valuable and each citizen has the right to the protection of their life.
Liberty: Everyone has the freedom to have their own ideas and opinions, to express those ideas in public, the right to meet in groups, and the right to have any lawful job or business.
Pursuit of Happiness: As long as it does not interfere with the rights of others, everyone has the right to seek happiness in their own way.
Justice: All people should be treated fairly with both the benefits and the obligations of society. No individual or group should be favored over another.
Common Good: As a society we should work together for the welfare of the community and the benefit of all.
Equality: Everyone should get the same treatment regardless of where their parents or
grandparents were born, their race, their religion or how much money they have.
Diversity: Differences in language, dress, food, where parents or grandparents were
born, race and religion are not only allowed but accepted as important.
Patriotism: American citizens have the right to national pride and loyalty (not obedience).
